Background interference can severely compromise the sensitivity of fluorescence-based immunoassays. One of the approaches to address this problem is to use phosphorescence. While fluorescent dyes typically have decay times of nanoseconds, our phosphorescent nanospheres may emit signals that last up to milliseconds. Since background fluorescence decays much more rapidly than phosphorescence to it can be eliminated with time-resolved fluorescent (TRF) measurement. Thus our FosphexTM phosphorescent nanospheres can be used in TRF's for ultra-sensitive, background-free immunoassays.
